NEED

Approximately 26% of children in the U.S. are being raised in single-parent households. In Florida alone, 79% of households headed by single mothers face ongoing poverty. Additional research suggests that adults and children in single-parent households are at greater risk for adverse health conditions, including mental health and substance abuse.

Gerald, Ebony, and their family will be providing the same resources to these families and their children that dual parent, middle and upper-income peers get to experience. The Gerald McCoy’s Patricia Diane Foundation works to assist this population by providing resources that help alleviate these burdens and strains.

WHY?

Gerald’s mother (Patricia Diane McCoy) passed away suddenly and unexpectedly while Gerald was a freshman at the University of Oklahoma. Gerald knows first-hand what it is like to live with just one parent.
